let my words be few

Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

Was talking to a friend today about our struggles, about God, and the Holy Spirit said to her that we should talk more to God rather than talk about Him. At that point i realised how i was at once enjoying and repulsed by all the talking. It was a good reminder of how we boast of Him and kid ourselves that we are spiritual by talking about Him. I was disgusted with myself and i knew that somehow this talking will not get me back to Him, yet i persisted in it. When i thought about her timely reminder again on the way home suddenly the words "let my words be few" came at me. "God is in heaven and we're on earth, so let your words be few".

Before God, that is the only state we can possibly in.
