"I will repay"

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengence is mine, i will repay, says the Lord. To the contrary, "If your enemy is hungry, feed him,; if he is thirsty give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

-Romans 12: 19-21

A verse i committed to memory during MEET training, and has come to challenge me again and again. In the midst of getting worked up about things, when i cry vengence at the top of my voice, this verse always come to me.

How easy the teaching, yet how difficult to live it! Am i prepared to live it out to its logical conclusion, to stick to the teaching, especially when it is something close to your heart?

Some things happened in school today that left me very disturbed, and in some ways disappointed, disillusioned. I was filled with rage, and even said some unpleasant things. I thought, well, no one sees or hears. i don't have to be a "good example" here. but Jesus sees and hears. He knows I didn't control myself.

I still feel angry, and it is something that i believe strongly in. What i have been taught is that to give in, to not pursue things like that, would be to perpetuate the situation and we must stand up for ourselves. My fierce pride screams something, something must be done!

Yet how can i live the teaching of the bible in this situation. what would Jesus do? what is the correct response as a follower of Jesus, and as a sister? Would i stumble my sister thus? Shouldn't i strive to be a shepherd, to be God's instrument of healing rather than joining in?

Oh Lord, grant me the humility, grant me the meekness and love of Jesus, to trust God and to believe that He will repay, as He has promised. This world says "might is right", but Jesus prays "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do".

The people stood by, watching, but the ruler scoffed at him, saying, "He saved others, let him save himself, if He is the Christ of God, his Chosen One! The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine and saying, "If you are the King of Jews, save yourself! There was also an inscription over him, "This is the King of the Jews".
- Luke 23: 35-3
