"we love because he first loved us"

If anyone says, I love God, but hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

At the Basic Counselling Course my conscience was severely rebuked by the Holy Spirit. We talked of love and patience, genuineness, empathy and all that, but in my heart i harbour a silly dislike for them. There is not much time left, i think, i would just waffle my way through, but God has exposed the evil in my heart. Last night we learnt in disciple:

what does God require of you, but to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with your God?

I have been measured against the plumb line and found wanting.

Lord, give me love. Give me patience, give me the gentle compassion of Jesus.
