from glory to glory

"And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
--2 Corinthians 3: 18

Growing into His likeness requires an inward transformation, and that inward transformation comes not only as a mystical one-off VROOM of a change, but a disciplined, wilful choice to obey. It is in seeking Him in the circumstances we're placed in, it is being open to His way -- even if that way may not be what we would instinctively like, it is choosing to take the road He would prefer, it is deciding to do things His way. it is all these that would transform us into His likeness. No hocus pocus, but obedience to the Spirit's leading. When we choose to do what He desires, when we take the path that would please Him, we step into the shoes - or sandals - of Jesus, choosing obeying the Father as He chose to obey the Father.

When we do that, we take on His likeness.

When we do that, we understand His character, know His grace, and sometimes experience rejection and suffering as He has done.

"that i may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share in his sufferings" (Philippians 3:10)
