selling the needy for a pair of shoes

Trip to Cambodia was the culmination of the series of impressions and promptings from the Lord to spend less, to give generously, and to give my time, resources, and prayer to social concerns and missions. The struggle I have been having with regards to consumerism came to a head when I was there.

The contrast when I made my first stop after Changi Airport to a Dim Sum restaurant at Cathay was quite disorientating. The children have pretty shoes, the people in the restaurant were all well-dressed and the place filled with air-con. It was a far cry from the world of the friends we left behind. I can't wait to go back to BBLC next year and I thank God for bringing me there, for the boys who made it special by their enthusiasm and love for the people. My prayer is that they will continue to keep in contact with the friends they have made, and that they will not grow cold or weary but be changed, even in the smallest degree, by this experience. I know I have.

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will send the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them.
My hand will save.

    Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Finest bread I will provide,
'Til their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them.
Whom shall I send?

    Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
---"Here I am, Lord"
